Using the chat

TokRouter's chat keeps the context of a conversation while letting you pick the best model for each step.

Writing a good prompt

A useful prompt usually contains:

1. the expected result;
2. the necessary context;
3. constraints on format, tone, or length;
4. an example when the result must follow a precise structure.

Rewrite this text for a sales page.
Tone: direct and professional.
Length: 120 words maximum.
End with a one-sentence call to action.

Continuing a conversation

Every new message uses the previous exchanges. Don't needlessly repeat information you've already given; only specify what changes. To start over, create a New chat.

Switching models

The model menu sits in the composer. Its choice applies to the next message only. It's normal to alternate between several models: a fast model for a draft, then a reasoning model to check it.

Sending a file

Add a file with the File button. Before sending, check that its name appears above the composer. Click × to remove a file added by mistake.

PDF and text files (code, Markdown, CSV…) are accepted by every model: their content is extracted as text. Images are only accepted by vision-capable models — the Models page shows which ones. If a PDF has no extractable text (a scanned document, for example) and a vision-capable model is selected, its first pages are sent as images instead.

Never send secrets, passwords, private keys, or sensitive data you aren't authorized to share.
